Native people create legends / to explain unusual events in their environment.

원주민들은 전설을 만들어 냅니다 .... 일반적이지 않은 사건들을 설명하기 위해서요 ... 그들의 환경에서 일어나는...



(A legend from the Hawaiian island of Kauai) explains ① how the naupaka flower got its unusual shape.

화와이 섬 Kauai의 전설은 설명합니다 .... 어떻게 .... naupaka 꽃이 그것이 일반적이지 않은 모냥을 얻었는지 ....
 


The flower looks like half of a small daisy.

그 꽃은 작은 데이지의 반쪽처럼 보입니다.



The legend says that the marriage of two young lovers on the island ② was opposed by both sets of parents.
        S          V                                         : v. oppose: ~를 반대하다 / be opposed by ~ 에 의해 반대되다.
전설은 말합니다 .... 두 젊은 사랑하는 사람의 결혼이 .. 그섬에서 .... 반대되어 졌습니다 ... 양가에 의해 말이죠.



The parents found the couple together on a beach one day, and ③ ( to prevent them from being together) ,

one of the families moved to the mountains, separating the young couple forever.

부모님들은 발견했습니다 ... 커플이 함께 있는 걸 말이죠 ... 해변가에서 .. 어느날에요, 그리고 (그들이 함께 있는 걸 막기 위해서), 가족중 하나가 산으로 이사를 갔습니다, 결국 젊은 커플을 영원히 갈라놓으면서 말이죠.



As a result, the naupaka flower was separated into two halves: one half moved to the mountains,
and the other half ④ staying near the beach.                               S          V (과거시제)

결과적으로, naupaka 꽃은 분리되어졌습니다 ... 두개의 쪽으로요: 한쪽은 산으로 이사를 했고, 그리고 나머지 절반은 ... 해변 근처에 머물렀습니다.
